Salvation Army Thanksgiving Meal

With food prices higher than they were a year ago, salvation Army officials say serving thanksgiving dinner isn't easy. Fortunately for them, the Salvation Army stepped up to help in their time of need. Many of the volunteers who made the meal possible are high schoolers, looking for community service hours. At thursday\'s Thanksgiving dinner, volunteers carved up fifteen turkeys and made several trays of stuffing and desserts. Hamilton holland, a salvation army volunteer said, it just feels good to help people. They actually serve meals 365 days a year, not just on holidays, and they say as long as they keep getting donations they'll keep on feeding and housing the hungry. Salvation Army officials say with job layoffs all over the country and the economy continuing to struggle, they're having to help more people than in previous years. There are some in our area who had nowhere to turn this Thanksgiving. But at the end of the day, they say they got a lot more out of volunteering than just class credit. .
